“Holly at Green Rising was able to take our stream of consciousness/blabbering thoughts and mold them into a clear, focused voice. Her plan for us encompassed many different, creative ideas that feel very current and fun.”

– Dr. Louise Paez, Lula Health Center

About Us
Who We Are

Green Rising Marketing brings experience and a commitment to the environment.

Holly Caughron, Director of Marketing & Strategies

Holly H. Caughron, has been intimately analyzing trends of the environmental industry and marketing trade for almost a decade, and recently founded GRM in 2007 to support her goals of providing quality, affordable, and environmentally aligned marketing to other green organizations.

GRM provides full-service marketing through an alliance of hand-picked industry professionals, providing the highest quality and service while respecting client budgets and goals.

Although GRM is a full-service marketing firm, our greatest strengths are in identifying company goals and managing overall strategy to achieve them, as well as excelling in the arenas of Branding & Identity, customer relations/service improvements, event planning and viral marketing.

Professional Experience:
With a degree in Marketing & Communications from the University of Maryland, I've had the opportunity to glean insight from companies like the Ritz Carlton, Maho Bay Eco-Lodge, the United Way, Spectrum Science Medical Public Relations, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

This varied background allows me to inter-weave tactics between industries to present campaigns that hit their target audience with a quality branding experience.  This unique mix makes our clients shimmer like a large green tree encircled by swooping birds in the midst of an asphalt parking lot (I was going to say ‘stand out in a crowd,’ but you get the point).

Personal Eco-Efforts:

  • 95% of my family’s waste is either recycled, donated, or composted.
  • Urban free-range chickens, some 20,000 + bees, a small herb & berry garden, and local farmer's markets supply most of our nutritional needs. We make a great effort to keep our dollars in the local economy.
  • Installed energy efficient appliances such as an on-demand water heater and an EPA approved wood burning stove.
  • Have always lived within Biking distance of work.  In our new location, my husband has that luxury, and I take the train whenever possible to town.
  • Wind energy, supplied by Portland General Electric, fulfils our home and office energy needs.
  • A Push Mower is used in the Summer to decrease noise/air pollution and use of petroleum products.
  • And of course we utilize the old favorites: power strips, CFL's, and programmable thermostats.

Troy Mumm & Jocelyn Kearl, Web Gurus

This duo spouts creativity at each turn, combining their eclectic talents with technical know-how, Troy and Jocelyn produce visitor-oriented, search-engine-friendly, and downright good-looking sites. It’s not every day you can say “My web-designer played in a rock band!” With a long history of working for the under-dogs of the non-profit and entrepreneurial realm, these two fully embody the principles that Green Rising promises to clients.

Personal Eco-Efforts:
  • A Mini Cooper allows ultra efficient, gas-lean means to zip around town for client visits.
  • We heavily support the local community and buy local products and produce whenever possible.
  • We make a strong effort to coordinate and combine trips into the city, minimizing our commutes to only twice a week.
  • Supporting local non-profits, including environmental charities, through fantastic web design is a major part of our philosophy to not only help the local community but to further their good work.

Using her creativity to help others succeed, especially when it involves those who are making an effort to live sustainable lifestyles via conscious decisions, is something she is exceptionally passionate about.

Personal Eco-Efforts:

  • I lived in a tent for 100+ days over the summer in Alaska with no electricity, where we composted all of our food and had a very fruitful garden
  • I support local, independent, non-profit companies whenever I can and eat local and organically produced foods as often as humanly possible
  • Of course, I recycle; who doesn't?
  • I own a small eco-friendly clothing line that supports the growth of organic cotton and water based inks.
  • We are a one-car family.
  • I second-guess most of my daily decisions to make sure I'm doing it the conscious way.

Personal Eco-Efforts:

  • I'm an avid pedestrian and/or bicycle commuter, and am looking to purchase an electric scooter in the near future for long commutes.
  • I shop only local to support the local economy; no big-box chain stores for me!
  • My family buys sustainably produced foods (whenever possible), participates in our local CSA, and has a novice garden that we frequently obsess over.
  • I created a bumper sticker (printed eco-friendly, of course)  that reads, "Saving the world turns me on." Need I say more?
